Hey ya’ll. Sorry about yesterday. There were apparently some issues at work that required me to…well….work. Imagine that. So, how was your weekend? Ours was great, but more about that later. This weekend (and yesterday) I finally completed a project that I’d been considering since this post in October. I asked. You readers weighed in, and there we have it!

One of my beloved line sisters is having a baby, and its a girl!!! She asked us which name we liked best, so I thought I’d refer to the Fab 14 to see what you guys think. You need a little background? Well, if she’s anything like her mama, she’s gonna be a little jazzy girl, a cutie pie cheerleader, a super personality, sweet beyond belief, probably Miss USA (without the scandal). So, we can’t name her Gertrude. What should we name our Miss USA?
1. Jorgie
2. Jianni
3. Jaisee-Leigh

**And don’t be gettin jiggy and get cussed out. I’on play ’bout my line sisters.

You’re the parent of a 16 year old girl. She has a 21 year old boyfriend, against your wishes. You do everything a parent should do to discourage this relationship, but she finds a way to be with the guy anyway. You absolutely hate this dood. Hate him.
Your daughter is pregnant, and she freely admits that the chex was consensual. If you inform the police, he will be charged with statutory rape.
What do you do?

I’m not sure what I think about this. I mean, I get what dood was trying to do, but he’s certainly no Will.I.am. What ya’ll think?

I was watching something, I forget what it was…maybe Oprah. Whatever it was, it was about talking to your kids, and making sure your kids talked to you. There was a suggestion that I thought was very interesting and it stayed on my mind.
The suggestion was that you tell your child that if there were something they wanted to say or talk about that they didn’t think they could come to you with, you assign two people that they can always go to. Like, if Aidan wanted to talk about something that I wouldn’t accept, I’d let him know that he should tell his Paw Paw, under the condition that Paw Paw would hold whatever it was completely confidential and that I give Paw Paw the authority to take care of it as he sees fit.
So, it’s like a second parent. I suppose it would give you the comfort of knowing that your child was talking to somebody, and you trust that person enough to take care of him or her even without your knowledge. Hmmm, I really don’t know how I feel about that. I think it’s an excellent concept, but in practice I know that I would want to know. Then again, I know that I would want Aidan to be able to have someone if he ever were to think he had no one. I dunno…what ya’ll think?

Okay, earlier I said in this post that Jackson’s Hot 97.7 was some garbage. You can go there to read why I said it. Well, now I’m changing my position. I don’t think it’s all around garbage now, I just think the aforementioned mishap is garbage. Don’t get me wrong, I still want to jump out of the window everytime I hear the little high pitch, screechy, yelly, voice that is Tamara Cherie, or whoever. Everytime I hear her say “YOUR entertainment news IN A MINute”, I just wanna hurl. I think the thing about it is that she puts all the emphasis on the wrong words, and it makes the whole report sound stupid. For example, a regular person would say “WHEW. I’m ready to go to BED!” She would say “Whew. I’m READY to go TO bed.” Oh well, I guess I can’t hope for perfection.
Anyhoo, I’ve been listening to 97.7, and Sunday’s are off the chain. That NeoSoul show is da.truf. Plus, on the way home from work, the only thing I have to cringe about is the entertainment news. Throwback Thursdays are what?? Off.the.chain. Aidan thought I was crazy when “Hey Little Mama, why you dance so fonky” came on one day. And, in the morning, I can catch Ricky Smiley when Tom Joyner gets a little too old school for me. Before now, I’d just switch to NPR. Yeah, cause I’m smart like that.
So, the station took it upon themselves to be more community friendly and socially responsible. Really, you can’t complain about that. The changes were good, the programming is better. Now, if only we could do something about that Tamara Cherie…………
What say you, Jackson area residents? What do you think about the “new” 97.7?

This is a “What ya’ll think”, so tell me what ya’ll think.
A friend had a birthday and celebrated on her birthday with a couple friends, but you couldn’t make it because of a work obligation (that didn’t really include your job duties, but you kinda had to do it). Friend is upset about you not making the celebration and you genuinely feel bad about it. So, you plan another surprise gathering in honor of the birthday girl, and you invite about 10 – 15 people. Just to a little restaurant for drinks or whatever.
So, you call friend and invite her, but she’s pissed at you so she won’t come. You finally break down and tell her what you’ve planned, and she still refuses to show. Her reason is that she has things to do just like YOU had things to do during the first party. She really doesn’t come. You end up canceling the party. Should you shank her, not talk to her for a while, or just let it ride? What ya’ll think?
Have you seen it?
In my opinion, it had ups and downs. UP — Katt Williams was hi.la.ri.ous and I’m always a fan of Loretta Divine. DOWN — I don’t know exactly, there was something about it I just wasn’t feelin. The whole time I was sitting there, I tried to figure out what was urking me, but I could never put my finger on it. It could’ve been:
1. Her name was “Imunique”.
2. Tiffany “New York” Pollard was in it.
3. Malinda Williams had too much attitude. (UP — her hair was fab) Then it seemed like for a little minute there might have been something there with her and Ice Cube but it was just put out there and dropped.
4. What happened to Rickey Smiley?
5. The guns in church.
6. The majority of the jokes weren’t funny.
7. Something about it just seemed fake. And annoying.
8. It was a little predictable, but you know that going in.
9. Maybe it’s me, but I still don’t get how the man just turned up with the money.
I don’t know. UP — The choir was banging, but DOWN — they only knew one song. All in all, I won’t be buying the DVD. But it was aight.

Well, you guys sure did have a lot of comments, via e-mail and comment, on my previous post about my baby in church, so I’m revisiting the topic. Here’s the question…how much is too much noise in church and how should parents be “held responsible”?
Here’s what I think. First, I have to hold up for my baby. Now, I have enough sense not to let him make up a lot of noise in church. Honestly, two pens on a Bible with a soft cover does not a drumset make. The “noise” he makes amounts to the noise that someone would make tapping their finger on a table. I mean, people clap louder than he plays the “drums.” Now, kids sit up in church sometimes and draw and play games on cell phones and even play with dolls. My son ab.so.lute.ly lives to go to church and hear the choir sing so he can play with them. He also sings and claps. If his “drumming” is keeping him involved in the service and paying attention to what is actually going on, I’m not going to break that up — what should be broken up is the drawing and game playing. If mean lady had a problem with anything, her remedy was not to complain to another person and roll her eyes at me, her remedy was to say something to me about it and I would have gladly accommodated her.
Now, the question at hand: I think too much noise is when kids are making noise that is against what is going on in church. Babies cry everywhere. And yeah, church is sacred and people are trying to hear. If a grown woman or man was sitting there crying, or shouting, or dancing, the reaction wouldn’t be that they need to leave. So, why is that so when it’s a baby? A pastor once said to a lady who was leaving when her baby was crying that she should stay right there. Babies cry, it’s what they do. When they can talk, they don’t cry anymore and they communicate in a different way. Kids learn at young ages, VERY young ages. If you teach them that crying in church means you get up, then they’ll be doing it soon just so they can get up. What I think is irresponsible is when you let your kids not pay attention by drawing and doing the above things, and even sleeping (after 2 years old, you know they can stay woke) just so they can be quiet in church. And don’t even get me started on going to the bathroom…..
NOW….WHAT YA’LL THINK?
