Ms. Wilson,Thanks for such a GREAT semester!!!! I don’t recall ever saying that I didn’t like your class, but if I did it was only a joke. I really enjoyed your teaching style and you made learning about the law fun.

Hi Ms. Wilson!
I was just e-mailing you to say Hi! I really did enjoy Introduction to Law last semester. Thanks for instructing me to think beyond the box even in a law class. I really appreciated when you took the time out to help me when…..….
This has been my favorite class so far and I have enjoyed learning from you Mrs. Wilson.
….
Thanks for the fun ride Ms. Wilson!
These are but a few of the comments that I’ve gotten from some of my students this past semester. For those of you who don’t know, I’m also a Professor [of Law and Criminal Justice]. That’s my Red Rubber Ball.
I was talking to one of my bosses recently, and he told me that I had paid my dues in this game and that I should now make my career about what I really want to be doing. He asked me what it was that I really wanted to do, in my heart of hearts. Without hesitation, I said “I want to teach.” Strangely enough, he told me that I should try to become a law school professor. My reply: Me? I’m not law school professor material!? His reply: *blink*blink*blink* Ummm, why not? And I didn’t know. He told me that I was smart enough, had enough credentials, and had the passion, so there was really nothing keeping me from it. Imagine that…me underestimating myself.
That’s it. I love teaching. Really, I do. That’s the thing that I would do for free (in theory). So, that’s the ball I’m deciding to chase. Maybe soon you’ll be able to come visit me at a college or, dare I say, law school near youMemphis! Wish me luck!
I know I left ya’ll hanging on the afternoon post, but as soon as I got out of a meeting, I had to zip out to my local YMCA. I catch a ride with a coworker, and she does not play. So, anyhoo, I had this post all planned, then I got back and read the comments. Our girl Jo (primarily a lurker — BOO Jo for that, everybody. Boooo!) has made some progress on her start.
Now, we’ve been working on our eating and what not, but Jo has made the brave, bold move to give up cigarettes. YAY Jo for that! Isn’t that wonderful? Isn’t it the awesome of awesomeness? Isn’t it Rah-some?
Listen, Fab 14, we need a show of support for our fellow member Jo. Giving up anything is hard, but we know she can do it. I, for one, am PSYCHED for her!!! So, this is our challenge, while Jo is giving up the cigs, let’s just all give up one thing to go along with her. We’re in this thang together, all for 14 and 14 for all.
Here’s my pledge, as long as Jo doesn’t smoke, I won’t drink a soda. There, I said it. Who else is in? Lurkers, what you got? Fab 14, see my “no soda” and raise me one. I’m waiting!!!!
And go give Jo a shout out and some encouraging words over at living golden.
