Sunday Dinner

February 27, 2012

As weekends go, this one was pretty good. Paw Paw came to hang with Aidan, so everything was blissful until Sunday morning when Paw Paw walked down the hall with his bags packed to leave.

Tears.

After Aidan bawled as the car drove away, in quite a cinematic fashion, I fixed him a big bowl of his favorite Frosted Flakes and gave him a task. He was supposed to look through the recipe cards and find an appetizer, main course, and desert that we could make for dinner. One of them, he had to make all on his own. He settled with New Orleans Jumbalaya, Yeast Rolls, and a football cake.

So, we cooked!

He decided to make the cake on his own, right down to greasing & flouring the cake pan.

Cutting the center out to make the oval shape.

Halfway through his frosting adventure.

And for Jumbalaya:

He was stoked that I finally let him use a knife.

Everything’s in!

And, viola!

The yeast rolls, we tackle tonight. After all that, Mama was tired! But, apparently not as tired as this dood:

Good for Aidan! I didn’t know that’s how you get the oval shape for a football cake.

Chief is knocked out like he has a job in construction. LOL
