Please, God.

February 7, 2012

I’m sure that everyone knows by now that the New York Giants won the Superbowl. I only care because I wanted 1969′s team to win so she could live happily ever after Superbowl 46.

But, before the game was played, there was a prayer request. Apparently, this guy Tom Brady is important, and he’s married to Gisele Bundchen. So, before the game, his wife sent an email to her family and friends asking for their prayers that he feel confident, healthy, and strong as the day approaches, so that his team could be victorious.

I, for one, find absolutely no problem with that, although it seemed to have caused quite the stir. I happened to be watching that horrid show “The Talk”, when they mentioned it. Aisha Tyler seemed to think it was ridiculous for a supermodel to be praying for a football team to win a Superbowl, when there are more obviously important things that God should be concerned about, like peace and world hunger. She lives an already charmed life, so how DARE she pray over a game. Another person said that her prayer made it obvious that she was not confident.

This is what it’s come to? We’re criticizing people’s prayers, y’all.

Well look, my husband is no quarterback (is this guy Brady a quarterback? Totally not sure, but let’s go with that), but I pray often that he is successful in what he does. He referees basketball, and I’m certain that isn’t going to lead to world peace, but why shouldn’t I pray that he be blessed in all his endeavors? Should I not pray that he makes it to the NBA one day because we’re blessed enough already? What is wrong with a wife praying for her husband to be confident, healthy, strong, and victorious? To us, it’s just a football game, but that’s her husband’s livelihood and what he works for everyday.

God is no respector of persons. In God’s eyes, Brady is just the same as Hackett and Gisele is just the same as Psonya. And no matter who you are, you can go to God for ANYTHING. And that’s that on that.

im glad I didn’t know about this. This is some of the dumbest ish I have ever heard!

Yeah…I thought it was pretty dumb for folks to criticize her for that too.

Ameen. I am really glad I didn’t see that show. The last time I checked, the contents of a person’s prayers are their own business anyway… and if those people have nothing else better to do with their time than criticize someone else’s prayers they need to find themselves some business!

I’m no certified Bible scholar nor do I play one on TeeVee, but . . .

We are taught that we are to take ALL of our concerns to the throne of grace and ask for the desires of our heart, Nothing is so isolated that it will stand alone. A wife praying for her husband is not limited to a football player and a model nor a surgeon and his musician wife nor a pastor and the first lady of the church. We can all learn from her and pray for her, him, them, those and others . . . without ceasing. Aaaaamen.

Her prayers are between her and God. And I’m a firm believer in praying FOR the people that I love and care about. I always want them to be successful and safe.

And actually all she sent was a prayer request. Alot of us do that.

You are absolutely correct, Psonya…I’m starting not to be so shocked by peoples desire to judge every little action that someone else takes. It’s seriously irritating though…criticizing a woman for praying over her family, really!?!?

I knew his wife had caused a stir, but I didn’t know what caused it – we’ll, now that I do it just continues to prove this is a Cray Cray world we live in! Her asking for prayer for her husband is the most selfless act and I applaud her!

    Great post Psonya!

Girl, much ado about nothing. I guess the media needs anything to talk about. It was stupid. I mean really, who has too much money and why wouldn’t a wife want her man to win? Do you know the kind of bonuses they get for wining the Super Bowl? LOL!! I’d be praying too.

Wow…I didn’t see the show but I can’t believe this was a discussion topic. Very sad. I think people “hate” people who have seemingly charmed lives. Gisele/Tom, Beyonce/Jay Z…everyone critiques everything they do! Its a shame.

Love this post…and if I was Gisele, I would be praying for my man to be successful…just like I pray that my friends are successful.

Pure foolishness. Folks love having something or someone to criticize. Geez!

  13. February 9, 2012 5:58 pm

    Amen.

    And that is all.

  14. February 10, 2012 10:19 am

absolute foolishness!!! so the first stir was caused by her prayers.. the second stir caused because she openly criticized his teammates for not stepping up and playing well…

Folks need to get over themselves.. I am a diehard Giants fan and I prayed that they would win too…
