Here’s a Question:

January 18, 2012

Just when I thought I might be all blogged out, I need help!

I’m thinking of purchasing a premium channel, but I don’t wanna get all three. So, would you recommend Showtime or HBO?

I’m thinking I really wanna see Treme, but I don’t know what else comes on HBO. And I’ve heard Showtime has better series. So…weigh in, my dears!

We cancelled our subscription to those channels so I have nothing to share. However, I did enjoy Showtime!

Showtime does have better series. They don’t have better movies though.

I’ve liked the shows on HBO better than Showtime. HBO is mandatory in April, when season 2 of Game of Thrones starts!

Showtime: Dexter, Nurse Jackie, Homeland and House of Lies.

I have to go with HBO! Treme is a MUST and not just because my nephew has a recurring role as Wendell Pierce’s youngest son ;) It’s a really good show, but unfortunately I can’t give any other insight on HBO because Treme is the only show I make time to watch!

I could not decide. So I told the family if we are going to have the full package, then everybody has to put in. So now we have it all, and I actually have shows on Starz, HBO, Showtime and Encore that I watch.

I’m trying to get their money’s worth! LOL

We have all the premium channels. I have my favorites on each and honestly don’t know which I would choose if we had to let one\some go.

I think overall, Showtime has the most (not by much) shows worth watching. I cannot emphasize how much I LOVE Homeland! The first season just ended but will probably be back on in the fall. Shameless and Nurse Jackie are really good too. I wish I could add United States of Tara (which was fantastic) to the list of current shows but the dipshits cancelled it. You can still catch up On Demand though.

HBO has several good older shows that can be caught On Demand but there are only two that I must watch, True Blood (back on this summer) and Game of Thrones (back on in April). Treme is good but I usually do catch up’s with them on the weekend (or whenever I remember). I’ve heard good things about Boardwalk Empire and have watched a few episodes but have never truly gotten into it. Enlightened is good (it also just ended its season last month).

Thanks to Monnie, I discovered Boss on Starz. Quality show. And don’t even get me started on my obsession with Torchwood. OMG!!! Soooooooooo good!!

    Okay, I’m done.

My name is AR Gal and I’m a TV addict!!! No, I don’t need help.

Netflix…then you can watch them all…although a little late. :)

OK here is my setup. Most cable providers allow you to watch tv shows online like ATT Uverse and Comcast Xfinity. My Mom has Uverse so I asked her for her login. Now, since she subscribes to premium channels, I can watch all the movies and tv series from those stations. All sesons of Dexter, the Game of Thrones, Treme, etc…Me and Hubs just started Season 1 of the Wire. So if you have a friend or family member willing to share, then do it that way. That’s my hustle!

Showtime, supplemented by Netflix. Showtime is killing the game with original programming right now. Their movies aren’t the best, but we supplement with Netflix. It’s the perfect combination.
